Appraisal of Existing Structures

Campbell & Bloese Ltd are able to undertake detailed appraisals of existing structures whether it is brought about by a change in use or changes in the building layout, or to investigate the cause of defects. This is backed by combined industry experience in excess of 60 years from our key personnel with, literally, many hundreds of buildings examined, including historic buildings and quinquennial reports on churches.

Change of Use / Layout

Some assessment of a structure is required to determine its suitability and adequacy. Structural elements have to be checked for compliance with modern codes of practice and floors may need to strengthened, either locally to carry partition loads or overall because of an increased value of the imposed load required by the British Standard.

Defects

Buildings can suffer damage as a result of many causes, including: normal wear and tear environmental changes, such as changes in water level, through to catastrophic incidents such as collisions. Although in some cases the cause may be obvious, in others it can only be established by a process of elimination such cases require thorough investigation and detailed analysis.

We are able to co-ordinate all investigations and laboratory testing where necessary. We also use up-to-date computer software to analyse elements of the building structure or the building structure as a whole.
